Large Clean Weather by Shivaism Large Clean Weather by Shivaism
A simple weather skin, using large, clean text.

The "Today" forecast automatically switches to "Tonight" after 3pm, along with the temperature, which switches from the day's high to the day's low.

Update (23 May 2010): Fixed bug in which longer text descriptions were getting truncated

Update (21 January 2014): Updated skin to account for change in the way that weather.com reports temperatures

Update (13 February 2014): Updated skin, again, to account for change in the way that weather.com reports temperatures

Update (17 March 2014): Updated skin, again, to fix weather.com's feed change that messed up my Today to Tonight changeover

Update (16 May 2016): Old weather.com feed broke, fixed skin to point to new, working weather data feed

Ah, so someone did fix this skin. I only just figured out how to get it working after looking through some other peoples skins XD

Hm, more than just the truncation and feed change. Guess I'm going to have to rummage through your one

Instead of it saying "Tomorrow", can I make it say the day (like, Thursday or whatever tomorrow is)?

Yes, if you edit the ini, near the bottom, in the ";[DISPLAY TOMORROW]" section, under "[MeterDay2]", remove the semicolon preceding "MeasureName=MeasureWeatherDay2", and add a semicolon before " Text="Tomorrow" "

How did you fix the old weather.com feed? I have another weather skin I'd like to use, if it's as simple as editing the text file.

Yes, it is as simple as that. I forget what the old weather.com feed url was, but replace the bit preceding the location identifier with "wxdata.weather.com/wxdata/weat…"

Reading the Rainmeter forums I realize now you have to add to &dayf= at the end of the URL. For Current and Today add 1 at the end or leave it. For tomorrow and the day after add 3 to the end. forum.rainmeter.net/viewtopic.…

The link should therefore be for [Current] and [Today]
wxdata.weather.com/wxdata/weather/local/#Location#?cc=*&unit=#Metric#&dayf=1

and for [Tomorrow] and [DayAfter]
wxdata.weather.com/wxdata/weather/local/#Location#?cc=*&unit=#Metric#&dayf=3

Works fine for me now.

Reply
:iconshivaism:

Yes, the ? is supposed to be °. Works fine for me, make sure you have the necessary fonts installed

To change to Fahrenheit, edit the .ini file, and in the [Variables] section, change "Metric=m" to "Metric=f"

Could you make a smaller version? I adore how this one looks, but I have a small screen, so it doesn't fit very well. Maybe just smaller font and more compact.

Do you have any idea why the "Tonight" feature has stopped working? Instead of switching from "Today" to "Tonight" after 3:00 pm, it just stays as "Today", and the temperature/icon is blank. I've been using this app for a while now, and it just recently stopped working. I know I'm not the only one, since I've seen the problem posted elsewhere. I'm guessing it has something to do with Weather.com, but I thought maybe you would have some insight.

Hey mate, I love this skin, but for some reason it won't show the full text (if it gets to long)
See example here: [link]
I tried changing [MeterDesc] X=235 to 280, but all it does is moving the text into the number, instead of just allowing more text to be shown.

This is a fantastic skin, but my problem is that I can't move the widget to the far left side of my screen... there's like an invisible barrier from about desktop resolution pixels 0 to ~300. What's causing this??

Unfortunately, the feed is in English so there's no way to do it automatically that I know of. You could check if weather.com has feeds in other languages. Alternatively, you can use the substitute statement to translate each word individually
